Herbster is a small unincorporated community (census-designated place) on the south shore of Lake Superior in the Town of Clover, Bayfield County, Wisconsin, where the Cranberry River meets the lake along Wisconsin Highway 13 between Port Wing and Cornucopia. Its 2020 census population was 130 (the surrounding Town of Clover counted 261), and it runs under a Wisconsin town-board form of government seated at the Town Hall in Herbster. The economy is small-scale and tourism-driven, anchored by a town campground with beachside tent sites, a mile-long Lake Superior beach, a boat launch, and Cranberry River trout fishing. Public education is provided by the South Shore School District in Port Wing.
